Accountabilities:
Providing chemistry support to the fleet of CCGT power stations and associated activities.
Providing expert chemical advice to the operations teams to ensure the safe, reliable and economic operation of the assets
Developing and maintaining external relationships with technical service providers and liaise with OEM support staff.
Act as an advisor on safety matters including chemical safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), confined space entry and incident response.
Take an overview of chemistry procedures and practices in order to develop them in line with industry standard practices.
Undertake and report on asset integrity inspections at major outages and on an opportunistic basis.
Review site chemical contract with a view to establishing and maintaining a contract strategy.
Maintain peer contact with the Scotland based chemistry group personnel.

Geographic involvement throughout the UK and potentially into Europe.
Liaison with staff of other Utilities and external technical specialists.
The post will be based on the one of the CCGT Sites Site but the post holder will be expected to travel, as required, to other Generation Business locations.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
With a knowledge of CCGT plants covering gas and steam turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and balance of plant areas from a Technical/Chemistry perspective, you should have experience in the power generation sector.
You should be familiar with budgetry practices and procedures.
You should have an awareness of safe systems of work, chemical safety and COSHH.

Essential/Desirable

• Degree/HNC or equivalent in a chemistry subject
• Driving licence
• Experience in the power generation sector
• Computer literate preferably with experience using the Microsoft Office suite
