Night Support Worker
Our Client runs Residential Care Homes for Learning Disabilities in the South East. Their philosophy of care is based on the principle of “supporting independence“by helping clients achieve their full potential whatever their level of ability.
Our Client is looking for an experienced Support Worker with a minimum of 1 year current knowledge as a Support Worker in a Learning Disabilities Home or similar environment.
Salary: £14,250 Annually
Full Time: 37.5 Hours
Essential Qualification: NVQ2
20 Days Holiday
Reporting to: Home Manager & Senior on Duty
OBJECTIVES
To enable the residents to lead a valued and fulfilling life and to maximise the potential capacity of all residents, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
METHOD
To work in accordance with our clients philosophy of care and its Policies and Procedures.
MAIN TASKS
- To support the personalised development of each resident, recognising talent, sensitivities and beliefs.
- To respect the dignity and individuality of each resident and provide the residents with choices where appropriate.
- To ensure a high standard of personal care for each resident, including matters of physical well-being and personal hygiene.
- To be aware of the emotional needs and aspirations of each resident and provide opportunities for appropriate emotional expression.
- To initiate daytime activities, including training and therapy, in conjunction with daily programmes.
- To work on a roster shift system, inclusive of evening and weekend work.
- To sleep-in when arranged at a predetermined payment.
- To attend staff meetings / seminars, individual support and supervision meetings with the Home Manager.
- To ensure the safety of the residents at all times, reporting promptly any concerns about the health and safety or wellbeing of residents.
KEY WORKER RESPONSIBILITIES
- To improve the quality of life of the resident by ensuring satisfaction of his / her needs.
- To enable the residents to keep moving towards agreed goals.
- To write and keep updated the residents’ Care Plans, individual programmes and timetable of activities.
- To follow consistently all agreed Care Plans, Risk Assessments and individual resident guidelines, reporting any progress or problems with these.
- To assist the resident to keep contact with family and friends.
- To support the residents in going on an annual holiday.
- To compile written reports on the resident’s development.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To contribute to the overall cleaning of the home, supporting the residents with cooking and involving them in these tasks as appropriate.
- To accurately maintain all records as required by the Home Manager.
- To have a working knowledge of all Policies, Procedures and guidelines within our Clients organisation
- To undertake courses and pursue own professional development and training. The company proactively encourages staff to improve their skills as appropriate.
