Our client a global blue-chip company, require an Optical Design Engineer to work as part of the optical project team, reporting to the Senior Optical Design Engineer and being responsible for all the optical engineering activities.

Working to develop novel optical systems to meet the
requirements of the customer in a cost effective manner
Supporting bidding process by supplying optical designs
that meet customer requirements
Contribution to optical work packages
Having a clear understanding of manufacturing and
fabrication processes needed for the optical components and
letting this steer the optical design process accordingly
Documenting and implementing design changes thus
maintaining and controlling build standard. Ensuring that
quality standards are meet the liaising with the PA manager
Conducting tolerancing, optimization and stray light
analysis on optical system designs


Personal Specification

Experience
At least 2 years of relevant optical design experience,
preferably in the space industry
Extensive experience of using design modeling tools
such as Zemax
The candidate will be qualified to at least degree level in
a scientific discipline

Knowledge &Skills
Excellent inter-personal skills
Strong attention to detail
Good organisation skills
Good presentation and customer facing skills
Ability to cope under pressure and ensure deadlines are
met
Highly results orientated; strong drive to deliver
Proficient in use of MS Office packages
