hello Over the last 3 years I have had experience 0-4 years in childcare. When required I have aided and taken on the role of room leader. I have also assisted with planning, and helped to manage staff and ratios within the room and Talking to challenging parents/carers about day events. I also contribute by giving constructive ideas on how to improve the room and what things work well. Throughout my childhood my parents fostered (still foster), so from a young age I knew that I wanted to work with children and change children’s life’s and give all children an opportunity to shine and to be included, and throughout my experience I have met very inspiring children. I have very good observational skills which enabled me at the nursery to recognise when a child needed extra support and guidance, and the outcome of my observational skills and communication to the manager resulted in this child needs being met more effectively to how this child learned. I was in contact with the SEN on a regularly basics and together we put IEPS in place to help this child develop to its full potential, and also devised activities to help the child on a daily bases. I am very interested in this area of work as the satisfaction is amazing when you know you are helping a child develop and learn because all children have a right to learn to their individual potential.
I have also recently been approved as a rest bite foster carer, (part time) I am currently looking after an 9 and 11 year old once a month at the weekends. Which is challenging however I really enjoy a challenge and seeing an outcome of progress, this involves recording a daily diary of what the children have done, planning outings and taking the children to their activities. Cooking the children dinners, and ensuring the children know what they are doing each day, and maintaining safety at all times is very important. The 9 year old child has very challenging behaviours and needs a routine which is consistent to ensure the child’s needs are being met. I have also made visual aid cards to help him with his routine and helping him more efficiently.
As a person I am very caring and have a very high motivation drive. I am assertive when appropriate. I enjoy learning new aspects of the job on a daily bases. I am very punctual and have good listening skills, in a team environment. I am looking for a position full time in which I can further my career, I am interested in these areas of work, social work, teaching assistant and room leader or residential work or nannying.I feel as though I have a wide range of skills to offer and would like the opportunity to utilise all of these attributes and expand my knowledge further in the childcare industry.
